Frequently Asked Questions
When and where do I register?
You can register:
- on Friday in Jasná - location to be specified - from 17:00 to 19:30,
- on Saturday at the beach in Liptovský Trnovec from 8:00 to 9:00.
We recommend arriving on Friday to avoid rushing on Saturday.
What do I need for registration?
You only need to bring your ID card.
What do I get when I register?
Upon registration, you will receive:
- race wristband,
- race number,
- stickers for your bike, helmet, and both backpacks,
- UpTogether backpack,
- starter pack (Isadore jersey, running shirt, swimming cap, gifts from sponsors).
You will need the wristband for entry to the transition area, the cable car ride to Chopok, and entry to the afterparty.
What is the UpTogether backpack for?
The UpTogether backpack is intended for everything you will need after swimming and during cycling.
Before the start, you can place the following items inside, for example:
- cycling jersey,
- cycling shorts,
- cycling shoes,
- glasses and other cycling gear.
- Leave your helmet ready on your bike.
You will place the backpack in the transition area at the spot marked with your race number.
What do I do with the UpTogether backpack after swimming?
After finishing the swim, you will take out your cycling gear from it.
You will put all your swimming gear (wetsuit, cap, goggles, and possibly swimwear) back into the UpTogether backpack and leave it in its designated spot in the transition area.
After the start of the cycling leg, volunteers will move it to the transition area at Biela Púť, where you can pick it up later.
Is this a competitive event? Will times be recorded?
No. The UpTogether Triathlon is an experiential, non-competitive event without timekeeping. The goal is movement, community, and experience – not performance.
When and where does the event take place?
The event takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2026. We start in Liptovský Trnovec near the Liptovská Mara beach, continue with the cycling section to Biela Púť (Jasná), and finish with the ascent to Chopok.

What disciplines does the triathlon include and what are their distances?
Swimming: approx. 500 m (loop in the water, entry and exit from the beach) 1x or 2x
Cycling: approx. 49 km (from Liptovská Mara to Biela Púť – Jasná)
Ascent to Chopok: approx. 6.5 km / 900 m elevation gain along a marked hiking trail.
The swimming starts together – the swimming section lasts from 10:00-10:45. At 11:00, the cycling ascent to Biela Púť begins collectively, with everyone riding together in a PELOTON. At the end, below Jasná, everyone cycles at their own pace up to Biela Púť.
This is followed by a collective start of the ascent to Chopok.
How many locations are there where the event takes place?
- Swimming - Liptovský Trnovec
- Biela Púť - end of cycling
- Chopok - ascent to Chopok, and participants then have a free cable car ride back to Biela Púť.
Can I also participate as a relay team?
Yes. The event is also open to three-person relay teams, where each member completes one discipline.
Is the event suitable for beginners?
Yes, the event is designed to be manageable for hobby athletes with a reasonable level of fitness.
What is the average pace of the cycling peloton?
The pace will be recreational, not competitive.
First wave of cyclists: 25 km/h,
Second wave of cyclists: 29 km/h,
Third wave of cyclists: 33 km/h.
Can I participate in only one discipline?
Yes, as a relay. It is not possible to participate in just one part as an individual without a team.
How will transportation between locations be provided?
10:50 – Shuttle bus from Liptovský Trnovec to Biela Púť
18:00 – 20:00 – Shuttle back from Jasná to Trnovec.
Transportation is also available for bicycles. Spaces are limited, and reservations are linked to registration.
Where can I park?
Morning: Liptovský Trnovec (by the beach)
Your support – family can depart from Liptovský Trnovec either before the peloton or after it has started, and by taking the opposite direction of the peloton, reach Biela Púť and park in Jasná at the Otupné parking lot (free of charge).
At Biela Púť, there is limited paid parking available (approx. 60 spaces in the garage).
Can I bring supporters?
Yes, we welcome families, friends, and fans. There will be food stalls and accompanying activities at the locations.
Will showers, toilets, and changing rooms be available?
Toilets: Yes, by Liptovská Mara and in Jasná at Biela Púť and Chopok.
Showers: Available in public facilities; we recommend an outdoor approach.
Depot: Fenced and guarded; organizers will assist with transitions between disciplines.
At both the beach and Biela Púť, changing will be possible in designated tents.
When and where can I pick up my start package?
Packages will be distributed on Friday evening and Saturday morning in Liptovský Trnovec. Exact times will be sent by email.
The package will contain stickers for marking items for swimming, running, cycling, and clothing after the triathlon.
Your bag must be brought ready and marked with a sticker displaying your start number on the morning before the start. Organizers will transfer it from Liptovský Trnovec to the depot at Biela Púť.
What is my personal backpack for?
Your personal backpack is for items you will need after cycling – for the ascent to Chopok and after completing the run.
We recommend packing the following:
- sturdy footwear for the ascent,
- warm or waterproof clothing,
- clothing for changing after the race.
When do I hand over my personal backpack?
You will hand over your personal backpack during registration (on Friday or Saturday morning).
It must be marked with a sticker displaying your start number.
After cycling, it will be waiting for you in the depot at Biela Púť.
Can I change clothes during the race?
Yes.
Changing tents for men and women will be available after both swimming and cycling.
What if I go to Chopok in bad weather?
If it's cold or the weather is very bad, isothermal foils will be available at Chopok to help you warm up.
How many backpacks will I have?
Each participant will have 2 backpacks:
- An UpTogether backpack from the organizer,
- Their own backpack.
Both must be marked with your start number. You will receive the number during registration.
Can my escort also enter the transition area?
No.
Only participants with a start bracelet are allowed to enter the transition area.
Will there be refreshments along the route?
Yes:
Trnovec Beach: coffee and pastry stand
Chopok: water, fruit, cakes for participants
Biela Púť: gastro zone also for the public
Will there be discounted accommodation options?
Yes:
TMR Hotels (Grand Hotel Jasná, Hotel Pošta, Hotel Liptov, Hotel Ostredok, Hotel Ski) – we will send a promo code.
Pension Drak (Demänová) – special price.
How is safety ensured during the event?
Swimming: Red Cross, 2 rescue boats, paddleboards
Cycling: Slovak Police, escort vehicles, traffic signs
Chopok: Mountain Rescue Service, volunteers along the route
An ambulance and medic will be available throughout the day.
What are the rules for moving in nature?
Ascent to Chopok is along a marked tourist trail
It is forbidden to litter, go off-trail, or disturb nature
Violation of rules may lead to disqualification from future editions
What should I bring with me?
Swimsuit, wetsuit, towel, flip-flops, bicycle, spare inner tube, helmet (mandatory)
Sports and hiking clothing, sturdy footwear
Can I attend as a spectator?
Yes. Come cheer, experience the atmosphere, and enjoy the movement with us!
What if the weather is bad?
The event will take place in all weather conditions, with the exception of extreme circumstances. Any changes will be announced in advance via email and at the venue.
Is a refund of the entry fee possible?
The conditions will be stated in the terms and conditions.
Who is organizing the event?
The organizer is VARGA_TRI, s.r.o., led by Richard Varga, a Slovak Olympic triathlete, in cooperation with TMR, OOCR Liptov, the Red Cross, Mountain Rescue, and other partners.
How does event registration work?
Registration is exclusively done via the e-shop on the website www.uptogethertriathlon.com. Your registration is valid once the form is completed and the participation fee is paid.
Is registration transferable to another person?
No. Services (participation) are tied to the person named in the registration and are not transferable.
Can I cancel my participation and request a refund?
According to the General Terms and Conditions, non-participation is not a reason for an automatic refund.
A refund can be requested in writing within 24 hours of registration by emailing: varga.academy@gmail.com. The request will be assessed individually. VARGA_TRI commits to responding within 48 hours.
Can I withdraw from a contract concluded online?
Yes, if you are a consumer (not a business entity) and registered remotely, you have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days from the date of its conclusion – provided that the service has not yet been rendered.
If, with your consent, the performance of the service (participation in the event) began before the expiry of 14 days, this right ceases to exist.
I have health limitations. Can I participate?
Participation is voluntary, and by signing the registration, each participant confirms that:
they do not suffer from any health problems that could endanger their health during sports performance,
they have not been advised by a doctor to avoid physical exertion,
they are not pregnant or have medical consent to participate.
The organizer reserves the right to refuse participation if there is a suspicion of a health risk.
Who is responsible for injuries during the event?
Participation in the event is at your own risk. By signing the registration, each participant declares that they are medically fit and assumes full responsibility for their health, life, and well-being.
What is the organizer's role in relation to me as a participant?
VARGA_TRI acts as a service provider, not as a medical or psychological entity. The organizer serves as a mentor and guide, not as a professional guarantor of participants' health status.
